It also offers an interactive map that displays bait shop locations, hotspots, day-trip charters, boat rentals and local fishing records. Better known by its acronym BREC, the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge is the nationally accredited, award-winning agency in charge of parks and recreation in eastern Baton Rouge. Its website contains a wealth of information about all outdoor activities in Baton Rouge, but they have a specific section dedicated to fishing spots. A list of local parks with bank-fishing spots, descriptions and addresses is available, as well as contact information for each one, making planning your next trip alone or with the family simple and straightforward.

It’s also the city’s only fly-fishing gear outlet. You can also schedule fishing charters or buy your own kayak at Uptown, meaning there are seemingly limitless ways to take advantage of what they offer and channel it into an unforgettable summer experience. Uptown Angler is located at 601 Julia Street and open Monday through Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. They’ve been operating for 20 years and know everything there is about local fishing, so get out there and enjoy!
